We got crummy fruits this morning
Sigh, it’s one of those days. I stumbled onto crummy fruits and we had a terrible breakfast. The avocado was icky, the papaya was pale and not tasty, the watermelon was pale. Arggghhhh….
Good thing the coconut juice and coconut meat was good. We still have duck eggs.
I am willing to bet these are the kinds of crummy fruits the anti-fruit people are railing against. Hey, if this were the only kind of fruit available in my locale I would be up in arms against fruit as well.
Good thing I went through a fruitarian phase and was able to scout out for really great organic fruit.
The best papayas we get come from Palawan where the organic farmer there knows enough to bury organic cow dung as fertilizer for each tree. The next best papayas come from Kalayaan street in Makati where our in-laws have found a seller who comes close to the Palawan papayas.
The best avocados come from Farmers market in cubao. They are more expensive than the avocados in Marikina market, but you get what you pay for. Real “lagkitan” variety avocados.
Native guavas are always organic and always taste great. Just make sure they are not over ripe.
It is past watermelon season. I had better stop buying them.
In season now are rambutans… too sweet though, better control your intake. Match them with avocados for fat.
