Our cook is offended when we replaced our aluminum cookware with stainless steel
I was so happy coming home from the grocery, we finally got an 18/10 stainless steel pot for cooking rice and an 18/10 stainless steel frying pan with cover. I gathered our maids, nannies and the cook for a short presentation on the new cooking utensils. They were reluctant to even come and I had to go into their room and ask them out to the kitchen.
I read to them the instructions on the stainless steel cookware manual: Remove all labels. Wash with soapy water. If there are stuck food, do not use a steel wool or other abrasive material, do not use metal utensils. I got a plastic utensil and a wooden utensil and showed them that these are the items to use.
My wife and I promptly instructed them to throw away the old aluminum pot and pan as I explained that these were dangerous to our health. Â That aluminum is known to poison the brain, for example getting sick with alzheimer’s disease.
In the course of the conversation I immediately picked up their tonal disgust with what we were doing. Probably they think the aluminum scare is full of bunk, maybe they think we are throwing away good money, maybe they are jealous that they feel doomed that their own families cannot afford to buy stainless steel cookware.
Bah some women, you can never really please them. Maybe our cook is just suffering from menopause.
