Mountain Fresh Air at Sierra Madre Hotel
The Sierra Madre Hotel is located at the peak of Marcos Highway on the Marikina – Infanta road. Just 1.5 hours from Quezon City or Marikina, you get a Baguio City like atmosphere: cold climate, cool breezes, absolutely clean, crisp mountain air. It’s cold enough up there for pine trees to grow!
I got the urge to drive up the mountain to escape the sweltering Manila summer heat. I brought along with me my 11 year old nephew, my 6 year old boy and my 3 year old girl. We first stopped by at the Boso Boso Resort to see the frantic bathers in the 3 level swimming pools. Then it was up the to the top.
Luck smiled our way with an overcast of clouds and a few rainshowers. There was more to explore now that the expanded improvements of the hotel had been finished.
We just missed the horseback riding offer as the guides had gone home by 3pm since there weren’t any more visitors, he thought none more would be arriving. Oh the disappointment of my little girl.
Our lungs were refreshed with clean air. It’s like being thirsty and you finally get a cool fresh coconut. That great, the air is electric.
Call the hotel first before going up next time. Their numbers are: 02-913-2001 and 0919-8674985.
