Bragg’s Liquid Aminos alternative to Soy Sauce in our Organic Chicken Teriyaki
Yesterday we had a birthday party for our 4 year old girl. The theme was Japanese. We had chicken teriyaki, tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi and various types of sushi plus various fruits with a big watermelon being the highlight. I can’t expect the guests to eat raw organic chicken like I do.
For the chicken teriyaki sauce it just so happened that our organic source of fermented and naturally brewed soy sauce had run out. It was a good thing I was at the organic store OPTA and bought a bottle of Bragg’s liquid aminos. Very expensive. To give you an idea, the commercial cheap non-fermented soy sauce bottle is some 12 pesos. The fermented soy sauce we buy or maybe Kikkoman brand with sodium benzoate as preservative is some 120 pesos. The Bragg’s liquid aminos is 250 pesos. At least our conscience is clear, we fed the relatives organic chicken cooked in the oven with organic teriyaki sauce.
Taste? Turned out pretty good. Our cook tasted no difference. At the end of the party I ate a cooked piece myself and agreed it tasted just as I remember teriyaki does. The difference here is that Bragg says their product uses organic soya and no fermentation. While the usual traditional method is fermentation but we do not know if the soya they use is organic and they use a preservative called sodium benzoate.
Raw is best. But how many people can and do enjoy eating raw chicken? There’s me… and….
