Fireworks cause Russian Club to go ablaze, many die
We should all learn from the mistakes of the past so we do not repeat them. A few years ago a fire gutted a club in Quezon City and killed many people too. This new incident happened in Russia, this time with indoor fireworks?
It is near new year celebrations again and many fireworks are set off in Manila. 2 weeks ago we watched the 2009 Pyro Olympics in Fort Bonifacio, but the rest of the whole competition was re-scheduled to January 2010 as their website states that they have safety issues due to the softened grounds.
As is usual, the Philippine department of health’s crusade to minimize fireworks use by personal folk continues. But as usual, there will be more victims who have not yet learned their lessons. Please learn from the mistakes of others, let the professionals explode the fireworks. Malls have them now regularly, be happy with that. The Pyro Olympics continues in January, be happy with that.
I stopped buying fireworks when I started feeling the cost. My in-laws stopped exploding fireworks when my wife’s cousin lost his whole hand when he held a crying cow which instead exploded in his hand blowing away his whole right hand.
Indoor fireworks? Give me a break. Authorities can only do so much. We the people need to be responsible and to be safety aware.
