Talisay, Taal Lake Near Tagaytay Fish Bounties: Tawilis, Bangus, Biya
This morning I went with my wife and mother in law to their church in Calamba, Laguna. After dropping them off me and the driver drove off towards Tagaytay hoping to hit Mahogany market to buy some freshly slaughtered raw beef. We followed the map on my Samsung Galaxy Android but the road fell short and we wound up down the lake and into Talisay.
Oh well, at least in Talisay they had taal lake fish! I got 7 kilos wild tawilis and 8 kilos wild bangus and 1 kilo of wild biya.
Tawilis is always wild and delicious. We tasted the raw tawilis, which is good, even raw. Note that the tawilis sold in Metro Manila is not the real tawilis from Taal lake.
Biya is always wild.
Bangus, these ones maybe got out the pens and grew up in the lake wild. Caught be nets, they have net marks. At home I tasted some charcoal cooked bangus and yes it tasted good, even the tummy, no bad muddy dirt smell or taste. Wild is good.
Taal volcano is grumbling, no tourists allowed in the volcano itself, the Talisay people have no trekking industry for now. Patronize their fish at least. Drive down to Talisay today.
