Stop frying your food. Stop eating fried food. Stop eating cooking oil.
It’s a frying shame to FRY ANY food. As Wai Genriiu says: “Cooking food creates the toxins that cause welfare diseases.” So most people cannot exit the cooking paradigm yet. But everyone should realize that FRYING is one of the WORST kinds of cooking and should NEVER be done.
Some of you may be crying microwaving, we threw out our microwave oven more than 5 years ago.
Frying is the worst because you are consuming the worst kind of fat: cooking oil. I’ve mentioned in another article about people needing to consume fats one way or the other. Frying food is consuming bad fat, fried fat. Don’t tell me you used virgin coconut oil for frying, as the whole point of VCO is that it was extracted without the use of heat in the first place, now you are applying heat to it, it is no longer VIRGIN.
Last night I was ticked that my 2nd son was given fried food. Why perfectly good mongo sprouts must be fried by our cook. We have already told our cook to never feed my son fried food. But through force of habit and ignorance, they think “light heating” in a wok with some “organic” cooking oil is not frying. The state of ignorance is appalling!
This evening cabbage was again “lightly cooked” in a wok but the excuse this time was the use of virgin coconut oil. Then old milkfish, for some reason my wife’s favorite was served with soy sauce and “lightly cooked” in virgin coconut oil. I was ticked off again. Fried again I told my wife. She’s ticked off because she thinks I’m limiting their food choices. Hello…. I just said NO FRYING. How limiting is that?
Apparently the Filipino culture for frying is so deeply ingrained we have to use force. So a showdown we will have sure. Now I’m being tasked to make a menu so that there will be no frying. Make them think. Micro manage the cook. Stop polluting my kids!
Definition: No Frying means NO USE OF COOKING OIL. No use of any “organic oil.” No use of “virgin coconut oil”.
Note that I’m mostly a raw fruitarian foodist, I just eat some boiled broths so my children can have better fats. Their mom still freaks out when I feed them raw beef. But raw eggs and raw fish are a mainstay.
So what methods can you make a meal out of?
First choice: raw food, raw eggs, raw fish
Kinilaw: chemically cooked via vinegar, calamansi, onions and ginger
steamed: steamed vegetables. steamed fish
lightly roasted over charcoal: from half cooked to just seemingly warmed over
Paksiw: using vinegar and ginger
Boiled: Any broth type cooking such as sinigang, nilaga, etc.
This showdown isn’t over. I’ve got to market this transition to more raw food better.
