My grandma goes to her eye doctor, is given more drugs
Strange, my grandma called me Friday after 5pm saying she wanted me to take her Saturday morning to the UST hospital to see Dr. Noel Chua, her eye doctor.
I said, yes, I am available Saturday morning for you, but I will call UST Hospital first and verify Dr. Chua will be scheduled to have his clinic there in the morning and in what room he is in. Why? Because grandma, it has been many years since you last saw that doctor so we are not sure if he stays in the same hospital, same room, same schedule.
So I called UST hospital and after being passed 3 times found out that Dr. Noel Chua no longer holds office in UST. I asked the eye center but they said Dr. Chua only sends patients and does not hold clinic there anymore. So I asked where he held clinic, the woman said she didn’t know. She told me to try calling at 8am Saturday morning when regular staff are at work since it is after 5pm.
So I told my grandma through her nannie that I had to call at 8am first and then in the morning I will call you. So Saturday morning I called and none of the staff can point to which hospital Dr. Chua now works in. I called my grandmothers Nannie, luckily, their cook remembers that the last time she remembers they went to St. Luke’s Hospital. Good one for the cook.
Then, I called St. Luke’s and found Dr. Noel Chua there who holds office at room 114 in the Medical Arts Building. MWF 9-12. MTThSat 2-5pm.
As I was explaining this to the Nannie, we got cut off as my grandma was shouting at the Nannie to talk to me. My grandma told me she wanted instead to go to her optometrist at another location she remembers. She couldn’t hear me. It was a one way conversation and I kept asking her for me to speak with the nannie. But it seems the nannie got fed up and left her. So I called back and told the nannie not to leave us hanging like that as she knows my grandmother is almost DEAF on the telephone. I finished my explanation that I had found THE EYE DOCTOR, that there was no need to go to a mere optometrist.
So this Saturday 2pm the doctor Noel Chua will be there. Good for my grandma, their driver Chris was available so off she went with her nannie.
My grandma’s complaint… you have to delve into WHY all of a sudden she wants to see her eye doctor, is that now she is feeling dizzy (nahihilo) and it may be her eyes, maybe her glasses need adjusting.
I asked the nannie what happened after the visit. She said the doctor Noel Chua said her eyeglasses were fine and that they DID NOT need adjusting. Instead he prescribed new drugs. I asked the nannie what those drugs were, but she said she could not read the handwriting on the prescription. I said to text me the drug names after you bought the drugs in the drug store. She said they were buying tomorrow. I asked why tomorrow when the driver was already driving them right now. She said they forgot her senior citizen’s discount card at home for the 20% discount. I said gasoline costs so much more today you should buy now while on the way home. She said they will buy tomorrow.
In the meantime I don’t know what those additional drugs are. I don’t know if that doctor asked and would have found out that my grandmother is back to taking ALL of her old drugs again care of the heart doctor and these 2 drugs will be adding more to that already full cocktail.
Well, how about the real possibility that taking again all those drug cocktails is the cause of her being dizzy (nahihilo)?
If you look at my documentation of her prescription drugs at https://www.myhealthblog.org/2008/06/09/my-grandmother-is-sick-because-of-her-drugs-my-grandmother-is-dying-because-of-her-drugs/
You will see that the drugs she takes: Isordil, Plendil, Sinemet, Fosamax, Dolacet are ALL CAUSES of HILO / DIZZINESS or light headedness. Her HILO only started again when she started taking ALL THOSE RX drugs last week. Bulls eye. The reason is those drugs prevent her heart from beating as it should to supply her with enough blood / oxygen / nutrients to her brain. But because the druggers are more concerned with artificial reduction of blood pressure while doing NOTHING to improve circulation… my grandma is suffering even more. Remember she declined taking my cayenne tincture, she declined taking gingko biloba. What is a mere grandchild hobby healer to do? Drug companies win.
Tut tut… I’m no longer in charge here, fans. I’m just the scribe, historical recorder. I just support my grandmother with directory assistance, nutritious food and drink. I also provide 2 cayenne tincture bottles for emergencies with instructions to stuff into my grandma’s mouth for emergencies. Grandma’s sister is in charge now. I’ll just have to tell her the additional drugs the eye doctor loaded on my grandmother so she can tell her heart doctor.
My grandma’s date with the heart doctor was delayed from Saturday to Monday. I hope he manages her drug cocktails.
